Dear Diary:
Tis much about thee life I learnt this morning past! It is true, I have not known Sir Ector and his dame art not thy parents; and thee brother Kay art not my brother. Kay and I have shared a childhood which prepared us for a life of Knighthood! Our lands have been under siege, long since King Uther Pendragon passed and our nation but demands a new king! The day of the new year Sir Ector and Sir Kay, we three left for a joust amidst the best at the tournament. Sir Kay ever forgetful, had lost his sword and demanded I fetch one from fathers lodging. Ever faithful I merrily went on my way, and did I pass quite a spectacle and permit myself to take a look. Many a Baron and Knight crowded this stone. A stone? why yes, a stone with a sword in it! No matter, a task at hand I was on my way only to be disappointed when our lodging was empty and locked. Tis seemed likely all went to the tournament. On my way back swordless for my brother Kay, I noticed the boulder with the sword no longer had such an audience. I could not disappoint Kay until I'd exhausted all my options. Kay never spoke a specific sword he wished. As I dismounted my horse I walked over to the boulder and easily swiped the sword. Pleased with thee outcome I rode off just in time to deliver this sword to Kay. It seemed though, Kay was especially fond of this sword and immediately ran to Sir Ector. He seemed to realize where I'd gotten it and I was sure I must be in trouble. I followed humbly and watched the proceedings. Sir Ector also recognized the sword and asked thy brother how he recieved it. Sir Kay mumbled that I'd gotten it for him. As both approached me neither were angry. It seemed there was something I had missed upon my travels. The stone had a sign. "WHOSO PULLETH OUT THIS SWORD OF THIS STONE AND ANVIL IS RIGHTWISE KING BORN OF ALL ENGLAND". My father and my older brother bowed down to me and Sir Ector shareth with me " Now I understand you must be King of this land." Twas thy response? "Wherefore I?" "And for what cause?" For I had, in my haste to please Kay had not seen this sign or the men at the center of the crowd trying and failing at retrieving it. I was asked to prove the sincerity of my story and twice I replaced the sword and removed it again. Merlin, renowned magician of our land made an appearance, for he saw me accomplish the task which he set forth. With this a new history of my life twas laid out before my eyes. Sir Ector is not my father! He told me all, how I came to him, whose idea it was (Merlin!) what the purpose of it and who my father was. I am King Arthur, son of King Uther Pendragon, daughter of Igrayne! With my fathers untimely death I had not the chance to survive prince to be king with all the strife of our land. Alas, now as an older boy the title is rightfully mine! My court is in Camelot, and with that I'll have knights of my domain! Why how my day has drawn out! With Merlin as my counsel I shall swear to uphold a just court and be merciful and fair. As for now, I must rest, who knows what morow may bring!
